Winter is upon us and perhaps the perfect time to wrap your hands around that hot coffee mug or a deliciously flavoured soup bowl or simply step out to listen to jazz in the garden – or a combination of all three.
Yes, you heard it right, Jazz in The Garden in the middle of winter! The organiser Reuben Huma will put you in a heated marquee pitched in the middle of his huge suburban garden out in Brackenhurst, Alberton in the Ekurhuleni metro of Gauteng. The marquee will accommodate not more than 200.
This event takes place on July 26, 2026. Book now via web ticket or at Pick ‘n Stores nationwide. Tickets are R150 per person, that’s all you will pay plus transport costs
Yes, bring along your own drinks – booze, coffee and even the warm soup, you will not be charged for these. Dress up in overcoats, boots and warm pants and follow the dress theme, ideally. This time around the dress code is black and white – perfect, warm, winter colours!
The Jazz In The Garden event is hosted three times a year in this private garden – in April, July and mid-December. Patrons bring their own drinks and garden or camp chairs and every session has its own theme and it’s an open-air event with patrons spread across the garden in their finest.
However, the July event will be slightly different. Huma told PiE reporters: The July event is held in a marquee and patrons do not bring chairs as these will be provided. Food is sold at the event but patrons can also bring their own snacks, drinks and so on. The marquee takes a maximum 200 so early booking is essential.”
Come and spend the day in a heated marquee as DJ’s dish out the finest of the jazz sounds. The Jazz In The Garden events attracts matured adults and young and upcoming wannabes. It is a good crowd, good vibes. Try it out.
