291 VW Amaroks need to come back
We’re not sure if there’s a reward, but there are 291 cars wanted back. 😂 Alright, enough smoke and mirrors
The National Consumer Commission (NCC) has notified motorists of a new vehicle safety recall affecting certain VW Amarok bakkies sold in South Africa.
Let’s tell you more.
These vehicles were sold between 2 June 2026 and 15 September 2026.
The recall applies to 291 Amarok models and concerns a possible safety issue with the vehicles’ airbags.
According to the NCC, in the event of a front or side impact, the curtain airbag may not fully deploy due to contact with a component in the vehicle interior. Sharp-edged plastic components may also come loose or remain inside the airbag.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
Well, if you bought an Amarok in June, July, August or September, take it to VW and get it checked.
Because if you get into an accident, you don’t want to discover that your airbag has decided to take the day off.
Please take your vehicle to an approved Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles dealership.
The dealer will inspect the affected components and replace them if necessary.
And the best part?
It will be done at no cost to the consumer.

And this isn’t the only recall we’ve seen recently.
Last month, Mercedes-Benz recalled 3,520 vehicles in South Africa, comprising Mercedes-Benz Arocs, Actros, Atego, eActros, 2445 buses, Fuso Fighter, FJ and Canter models sold from 2022 onwards.
In August, Toyota recalled 518 vehicles sold from 2022 onwards, affecting the Corolla Hatchback, Crown, GR Corolla, Corolla Cross and RAV4 PHEV.
So, do yourself a favour.
Check if your car is affected.
It’s free.
And when it comes to something as important as your airbags, rather check than regret it.
291 AMAROKS. WANTED BACK.
If yours is one of them, take it back. 🚨
