Media accreditation for the official launch of the CSIR FuturePharma facility

by Len Kalane

Members of the media wishing to cover the forthcoming official launch of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research’s (CSIR) FuturePharma facility are invited to apply for accreditation. The official launch will take place on Wednesday, 7 October 2026 at CSIR.

The launch brings together members of the Executive and senior representatives from government, the science and innovation community, and industry.

FuturePharma is an open-access pharmaceutical innovation and manufacturing facility established by the CSIR to support the development and production of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and other technologies, while strengthening South Africa’s pharmaceutical value chain.

The facility seeks to help bridge the gap between promising laboratory research and the development, scale-up and commercialisation of pharmaceutical technologies. It will provide a platform for researchers, innovators and industry partners to advance technologies towards manufacturing, supporting efforts to strengthen local pharmaceutical capabilities and security of supply.

The launch will include an official unveiling of the facility and an opportunity for invited guests to experience its capabilities.

Journalists wishing to cover the launch are requested to submit their accreditation details via the online accreditation system accessible through this link:

Accredited media will receive further information regarding arrival times, access arrangements, parking and media logistics ahead of the event.
