Sixteen years ago South Africa was celebrating hosting the World Cup.
In the same year, Afriforum and Solidarity were clinching NGO observer status at the UN. Israel tried the same playbook with the AU. Naledi Pandor fought tooth and nail.
By 2016, when Donald Trump became the 45th President of the US, Afriforum had a friend in the White House. Leaders from AfriForum and Solidarity met senior US officials in Washington and presented them with names of ANC members they said should be sanctioned under the Global Magnitsky Human Rights Accountability Act.
Their diplomatic offensive matured on the back of one big lie: ‘white genocide’.
Trump bought it. The ANC and MK Party blamed AfriForum directly, saying “Based on those lies, those fraudulent misrepresentations, Trump decided to issue an executive order against South Africa”.
AfriForum has been campaigning actively for years in the United States against South African land reform efforts.
They also delivered a memorandum asking Trump to pressure SA to change foreign policy on Israel, China, Iran, Russia and Taiwan, and to “focus pressure on ANC leaders who are responsible for these policies”.
Now Trump and the Amerikkkaners are in the same fighting corner.
The language of racism is no longer limited to Afrikaans.
White supremacy eloquently speaks in English at home and abroad.
The 2026 World Cup in the United States finds AfriMAGA SA-US solidarity in full swing.
July 19, 2026, the final is Argentina vs Spain.

On the field: One team carries the symbolism of Israel with Leon Messi.
The other carries affinity with Palestine with Lamine Yamal.
The loyalties off the field will have an eyeball-to-eyeball confrontation on the field.
Win or lose, either result has morale-boosting implications for the warring causes off the field.The World Cup was never just about football.
